CERTIFIED ATHLETIC TRAINER - HUTCHISON SCHOOL

John Michael joined ORTHOMEMPHIS in 2012 and is stationed full time at Hutchison School as the Head Athletic Trainer. As a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, he applies scientific knowledge to train his student athletes for the primary goal of improving athletic performance. He can also conduct sport-specific testing sessions, design and implement safe and effective strength training and conditioning programs and provide guidance regarding nutrition and injury prevention.

John Michael completed his certification for Corrective Exercise Specialist which gives him the expertise in correcting improper form and technique. He is able to provide athletes with an exercise program to improve form and technique which can help them optimize their sports performance. Secondly, he can develop an exercise program for athletes returning from an injury by targeting specific muscles to retain and improve their strength and flexibility, which are the keys to returning an athlete back to the field of play.

Prior to joining OrthoMemphis, John Michael completed his Master of Science in Sports Medicine at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and his bachelor of science degree in Athletic Training from Erskine College in Due West, SC. He gained great experience taking care of Sand Creek High School athletes in almost every sport and managing a team of 20 athletic training students. He has also provided athletic training services to Universal Cheerleading Association, Universal Dance Association, University of Colorado at Colorado Springs soccer and basketball teams.

We are thrilled to have John Michael on our team!
